Problems in the Food Supply Chain

I heard a story on the radio the other day about food tracking and it immediately sprang to mind when I heard about the E. coli outbreaks in Europe.

It mentions how there are plans to be able to track every single package of vegetables, like we track shipments through UPS. There will never be a question again about where particular foods came from, and where they were transported. If someone gets E. coli, they would simply have to know what they ate; then it would simply be tracked to the source. And to top it off, they could say what else had been transported from the same location. Maybe Spain and these guys should talk!

For more information regarding the outbreak and Spain’s indignation, check out this article from CNN.
