Thoughts on Insurance: Virginia, Non Sequitor

After reading this article about upcoming arguments for and against the Affordable Care Act, I wanted to add some thoughts of my own.

I find it particularly hypocritical that the Commonwealth of Virginia takes up against the act, basically arguing that it is unconsitutional for the government to force to people to buy health insurance, especially considering that Virginia requires car owners to buy car insurance. The only way a resident can register a car that is uninsured is if they pay a hefty $500 fine, and sign agreeing that they will be responsible for the costs of any damage which they may cause or incur.

So basically, Virginia would argue that it is not okay for the Federal government to force people to buy insurance, but it is okay for states to do so. Does that follow?
